Used by Israeli military forces in hand-to-hand combat, krav maga, or "close combat" in Hebrew, is one of the most powerful forms of martial arts known today. Krav maga is not considered a sport and there are no organized competitions; however, it is quickly gaining recognitions as a form of self-defense. The nike gun defense is just one example of many techniques taught in krav maga.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Redirect the weapon by grabbing the attacker's fist, or even grabbing the gun near the attacker's grip. Always push the weapon out towards the side of your body, instead of up or down, as to the side is the quickest path away from your body. Once you redirect the weapon, do everything in your power to keep it out of line with your body using the krav maga nike gun techniques until you can take it away from the attacker.

  2. Step 2

Control the weapon by twisting towards the side of your body to bend the attacker's wrist and forcing your knuckles into the attacker's body. Perform this motions while thrusting yourself forward so that the attacker cannot step back and redirect the weapon. Using the hand which is still firmly gripping the gun, push as hard as possible until you make impact with a part of the assailant's body. You can hit anywhere necessary, as long as the barrel of the gun does not return to your path.

  3. Step 3

Attack the assailant while you have full control of the weapon. Do not let go of the gun at any time. Use any and all of your krav maga techniques to debilitate your attacker.

  4. Step 4

Take away the weapon at your first opportunity to take complete control of the situation.

  5. Step 5

Keep RCAT, the four basic steps to nike gun defense in krav maga, in your mind at all time. REDIRECT the weapon, CONTROL the weapon, ATTACK the assailant and TAKE away the weapon. These techniques should be memorized, practiced and lived, as they can save your life.
