A form of Israeli martial arts, krav maga, or "close combat" in Hebrew, is used by Israeli military forces in hand-to-hand combat. While gaining popularity in America as a form of real-life self-defense, krav maga is not considered a sport, there are no organized competitions and students are not required to wear uniforms. Learning to use a kick to the sensitive groin area is an import part of krav maga.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Begin in the basic krav maga neutral position with your hands up at shoulder height in defense position. Your feet should be about hip width apart with your dominant leg slightly behind you. Pick up the heel of your back foot so that your toes and the ball of your foot are on the ground.

  2. Step 2

Bring your back leg forward, drawing the knee in towards your chest. Point your toe and swing the kick out forcefully towards the attacker's groin. Increase the momentum of the kick by thrusting your hip forward into the kick.

  3. Step 3

Make impact with your shin just above your ankle. As you push through the kick, imagine that you are trying to split your attacker through the center, moving your foot all the way to the head. This will help you to accentuate the force of your blow.

  4. Step 4

Lean your body back slightly as your throw the krav maga groin kick to prevent being hit by your opponent's counter attack. Bring your foot back as fast as possible into your neutral position so that you are prepared to block or attack further.
