Step 1
Stand 4 feet away from partner facing each other. Partner should have a water or toy gun pointed at your body and tell you "hands up." This is for practice only and on no account should a real gun be used during this exercise.
-
Step 2
Use the phrase in Step 1 as a signal to quickly lift the right arm and sweep it across the body catching the barrel of the gun in the process. This redirection of the gun must be extremely swift and well timed to make the attacker think you are going to raise your hands in defeat. Do not let go of the gun.
-
Step 3
Hold gun tightly with the left hand to the right hip or side of partner's body and punch partner using the right fist. Repeat the "fake" punch several times.
-
Step 4
Place both hands around the gun and partner's hand and twist very hard 360 degrees to both break trigger finger of attacker and gain complete control of the handgun.
-
Step 5
Grab the released gun tightly with both hands and point at the chest of your partner. In a real life situation, this would be the time to attract attention and get help.

on 3/9/2008 This is ridiculous - "lift the right arm .. catching the barrel" then "hold gun tightly with the left hand". First, you've combined two different gun defenses. Second, even if your writeup were remotely accurate, it has no value to the reader, you can't possibly communicate the technique via text only.
