Krav maga, which means "close combat" in Hebrew, is a martial arts developed in Israel and used in hand-to-hand combat. Krav maga is not considered a sport, and therefore there are no krav maga competitions or specific uniforms; however, it is becoming more common as a form of self-defense. The choke push is just one example of the many powerful techniques of krav maga.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Use the choke push krav maga technique when someone is pushing you while at the same time trying to choke you.

  2. Step 2

Step your dominant foot back as the attacker is pushing against you in order to stop your backward momentum. Lift your non-dominant arm and cross if over the top of the attacker's arms to grip his forearm which is closest to your dominant arm. Tuck your chin in tight so that it is pushed down to your chest near your hand and the attacker's forearm.

  3. Step 3

Lift your dominant arm straight up into the air and start to lower it over the attacker's arms. His forearm should now be near or even tucked into your armpit. When your upper arm comes about parallel with the floor, bend your arm, swing, and strike your attacker in the nose with your elbow.

  4. Step 4

Use the opening created with the krav maga choke push technique to add a few knee kicks, sweep your attacker to the ground or simply escape and call for help.

Tips & Warnings
  • Krav maga was developed to be a potentially lethal form of fighting. Use krav maga only as self defense in extreme situations.
