Step 1
Use the jiu jitsu standing sweep when you have your opponent in the guard position and he moves to standing position. When you have your opponent in your guard, you are laying flat on your back and your opponent is on his knees facing you. He is leaning over you with his palms on your chest and you have him locked with your legs wrapped around his waist.
-
Step 2
Allow your opponent to stand, but keep your guard closed, meaning your ankles remain locked tight around his waist as he picks your legs and lower body up off of the mat.
-
Step 3
Swing your upper body to the left, bringing your left arm around the back side of his calf just below the knee. Pull against his leg, dragging your body towards his foot so that you can bring the inside of your elbow in against his achilles tendon.
-
Step 4
Cup your hands together around his leg and pull with your hands as you push your entire body out, trying to straighten the length of your torso and legs. As you push out hard, it should sweep your opponent off of his feet and drop him to the floor. Roll quickly and straddle his chest with your knees.
