Finishing a square knot hemp bracelet is a simple part of process of making hemp jewelry. You simply need to create a knot to slid through the loop that you created at the beginning of the bracelet to act as the two halves of the clasp. All you need is one bead large enough for all of the strands of the bracelet and a pair of scissors.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Check that the bracelet is the right size. Once you cut the ends of the hemp thread and knot it off, you don't be able to change the bracelet. If you have any beads or decoration in the center of the bracelet make sure that the two lengths of square knots on each side are the same length.

  2. Step 2

Trim the ends of all four threads so that they are even. This will make them all easy to thread onto the bead. If any of the threads are ragged or unwound on the ends, cut above that point. This will make the bead hard to get on all the cords.

  3. Step 3

Take the one bead and slip it onto the threads. Remember to have a bead with a large enough center to get all the threads through. Thread all the pieces through the bead at the same time. If one doesn't get through it's hard to get just one through the bead with the other already through the center.

  4. Step 4

Slide the bead up to the end of the square knotting. You want it to end up firmly pressed against the end of the knotting so that it won't slip loose as the bracelet is worn.

  5. Step 5

Take the ends of the threads and make an overhand knot. Wrap the threads around two fingers once and slip the ends of all the threads through the loop.

  6. Step 6

Push the knot firmly up against the bead. You want the knot to be directly up against the bead to hold it firmly in place. Make sure the knot is pulled as tightly as you can get it.

  7. Step 7

Cut the ends of the thread leaving a 1/4 of an inch of the threads behind. If you cut the hemp thread right up against the knot, it will come undone. Leaving a little tail will ensure that the knot can't slip loose.
