Playing with a hacky sack, or foot bagging, became an American sport in 1972 and offers good practice for soccer players and other athletes. Teaching hand and eye coordination, balance, and muscle strengthening, the solitary game can prove a bit of a workout. One of the many techniques in hacky sack is the inside delay movement, mastery of which is basic to being good at foot bagging.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Begin with both feet comfortably apart, right arm down by your side and left arm raised holding the foot bag.

  2. Step 2

Pull the right knee up until the right ankle is in line with the left hip and place the hacky sack or foot bag on the inside side of the right foot. The bent leg should be as horizontal as is comfortable.

  3. Step 3

Balance the bag on the foot as you use the left leg with knee slightly bent to hold your weight. Hold position for about 3 seconds.

  4. Step 4

Push the right foot up slightly by jerking the hips causing the foot bag to rise in the air and kick the bag up towards your hand.

  5. Step 5

Catch the bag with your left hand and return your foot to the ground.

  6. Step 6

Prepare for the next repetition by lifting the foot into the air at the same time as you let go of the bag.

  7. Step 7

Practice the move so that you learn to drop the bag onto the side of the foot rather than having to place it there.
