The stall is one of the fundamental components of any hacky sack routine. It forms the basis for many of the more difficult flicks and dexterities that give the game its flair. One special stall involves catching the hacky sack on the bottom of your foot. This sounds difficult, but with practice it's not much harder than the traditional instep stall.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Position the hacky sack on top of your foot. If you want, catch it on your instep with a footstall. If you're a beginner, simply reach down and place the bag using your hands.

  2. Step 2

Rotate your other foot to the outside by 90 degrees. This gives your body room to pivot during the foot stall and prevents potential ankle or knee injuries.

  3. Step 3

Lift the hacky sack into the air while rotating your leg inward. To accommodate the rotation of your hip, let your body shift away from the hacky sack.

  4. Step 4

Look over your shoulder and watch the hacky sack as it drops toward the ground.

  5. Step 5

Catch the hacky sack gently on the sole of your foot or shoe.

  6. Step 6

Flick the hacky sack back into the air, uncork your body and recatch it on the instep of your foot.

Tips & Warnings
  • Avoid tossing the hacky sack too high into the air, as this makes stalling it unnecessarily challenging.
  • Be mindful of your foot position during this trick. The best way to achieve clean, consistent foot stalls is by "thinking" with your feet.
