Hacky sack is a sport which combines speed, foot-eye coordination, balance and the creativeness to come up with and master new moves. No matter what you are attempting, kicking the hacky sack off the center of the foot is imperative when it comes to some of the basic moves.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Hacky sack
  1. Step 1

Rest the hacky sack on the center of your foot, midway between your toes and your ankles and allow the hacky sack to sit there.

  2. Step 2

Flip the hacky sack up by jerking your foot upwards quickly.

  3. Step 3

Tap the hacky sack back into the air with the center of your foot as gravity pulls it down. Repeat this several times concentrating on hitting the hacky sack off the center each time. This will give you the truest vertical bounce.

  4. Step 4

Repeat these steps on the instep of your foot and the outside, making sure that each time you are hitting in the center of each surface. Once you have mastered this base move on all three components of your foot, you'll now be ready to move onto more elaborate tricks.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wear flat shoes when footbagging (as it's sometimes called) or using the hacky sack. Shoes such as skateboarding sneakers or Converse with thin soles are the best, so that you get a true vertical bounce.
  • Once you've become adept at certain moves, put a routine together and enter a competition. Now recognized as a sport, you can win cash and prizes for playing hacky sack.
