The golf swing is a complete circular motion around the body. A proper finish position occurs when your club is behind your head, parallel to the ground and your weight has shifted to your left or pivot foot. The proper finish is essential when hitting a drive, as it improves the power and the distance the golf ball travels.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Take your seven iron and complete your normal swing. Hold your finish position and note the position of the golf club in relation to the ground.

  2. Step 2

Adjust your position to the proper finish position, where your weight is primarily on your pivot foot, your right elbow is below your chin, parallel to the ground and your club is level with your shoulders, fully behind your head.

  3. Step 3

Repeat your swing, but this time your entire focus is on the drive through the swing to the finish. Use your hips to drive through the swing for maximum impact

  4. Step 4

Check your knee position in your finish position. Your left knee should be directly above your toes. Too much torque will result in damage to your knee over time, not enough torque means that you have not completed the swing.

  5. Step 5

Twist your whole body around and not just your waist while you repeat your golf swing with each of your club. By concentrating on the finish position, you avoid a common mistake of twisting the arms, but not the hips. Drive through the swing to maximize the clubhead speed.
