Step 1
Measure and cut one strand of each of the six colors. Tie a starting knot about one inch from the end and attach the strings to a firm surface. Organize the threads to lay from left to right in the order of red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple.
-
Step 2
Take the red and orange strands. Make a left-hand knot (LHK) with the red on the orange strand. Move the orange strand aside to the left.
-
Step 3
Take the red and yellow strands. Make a left-hand knot (LHK) with the red on the yellow strand. Move the yellow strand aside to the left, next to the orange strand.
-
Step 4
Continue making left-hand knots (LHK) with the red on the green, then the blue, then the purple strands. Leave the red strand on the right side, so that the strands are now laid from left to right in the order of orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and red.
-
Step 5
Take the orange and yellow strands. Make left-hand knows (LHK) with the orange on the yellow strand, then lay the yellow strand aside to the left. Continue making left-hand knots (LHK) with the pattern.
-
Step 6
Finish by leaving the orange strand on the right side, so the strands are now laid from left to right in the order of yellow, green, blue, purple, red and orange.
-
Step 7
Continue with this pattern using the yellow strand. When you have finished knotting on all other strands with the purple, your strands should have returned to the starting order of red.
-
Step 8
Complete the bracelet by taking an ending knot with all the strands. Give the bracelet to your friend, tie it on your friend's wrist, then trim the trailing strings.
