There are many in-flight tools that new pilots would like to know about. When you take an pilot course you will be taught about all of the equipment on the plane. Airplane equipment can appear to be very confusing when you first look at the inside of a cockpit. It might take quite some time to understand every tool and every button, but it is good to be thorough when learning how to be a pilot.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Step1
Learn about the electronic flight computer and see how it works for you. It usually appeals to a younger crowd because of its smaller size and advanced technology.
Step2
Use a handheld radio transceiver, which is a great resource if the airplane loses its radio functionality. The pilot will be able to contact the airport control tower through this great piece of equipment.
Step3
Become familiar with a communication head set. This will allow you to be in touch with the control towers and communicate any weather, aircraft and flying issues. If this dies, then your handheld radio will be your resource.
Step4
Study the landing gear and become comfortable sitting in the cockpit. It might seem overwhelming at first, but once you know all the buttons and devices you will feel confident in flying.
Step5
Read the manuals you are provided with and study in depth about each device and airplane equipment tool. Learn how each one works and how it affects the control of the airplane.
