Just because you're over 50 doesn't mean you have to wear frumpy clothes and have the standard hairstyle. Embrace your life and your appearance. Age is simply a number so take this chance to mix it up a little and have some fun.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Choose a short hairstyle if you want a look that's easy yet stylish. Ask your stylist to cut your hair two to three inches all over. Have her texturize it so you can wear it messy.

  2. Step 2

Apply gel to your hair after getting out of the shower. Blow dry it and use your fingers to direct it where you want it to go. Spray with hairspray.

  3. Step 3

Have your stylist cut your hair in layers throughout your crown, gently framing your face. This will get you a haircut like Barbara Walters'. Style it with a large round bristle brush and hair dryer.

  4. Step 4

Ask your hair dresser to give you a pixie hair cut. The closely-cropped haircut is achieved by shearing the hair over your ears and creating wispy bangs.

  5. Step 5

Style your pixie cut by applying gel or styling foam to your hair after towel drying it. Fluff your hair with your fingers as you blow dry it. Play around until you have the look you want.

  6. Step 6

Add layers to compliment your face shape. If your face is round, add layers to the top of your head to add height. If your face is narrow, put layers in the middle and style them out to add some width.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a gentle shampoo to keep your hair hydrated.
  • Don't let yourself be coerced into a hairstyle that you don't like. You have to live with it, not your hair stylist.
