Children enjoy getting their faces painted, and parents enjoy it when the paint washes off easily. Water-based paints are easy to find and allow you to easily paint faces at birthday parties or other events.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Review the designs you intend to paint. Use basic designs for face painting and take note of what paint colors you need to complete your designs. Include paints with glitter or shimmer to add something extra to your designs.

  2. Step 2

Visit the crafts section of your local retail store to purchase your paint. You can also look in the paint section of a crafts store for a larger selection of paints.

  3. Step 3

Look for water-based paints. Airbrush paints work well for face painting since they are gentle on skin and clean up easily. Paints with a medium thickness are best for face painting since they are the easiest to apply to skin.

  4. Step 4

Purchase small containers to pour your airbrush paint into while you are face painting. Airbrush paint comes in bottles, but if you are traveling, smaller containers are easier to transport.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are painting many faces, or more than one face at a time, pour the same color into two or three small containers for easy access.
  • Make sure you keep your containers or bottles or paint closed tightly when not in use so your paint does not dry out.
