Even if you're the girl who wears little or no eye shadow, you'll want your wedding day eyes to be top priority. You'll most definitely be the center of attention. For a daytime wedding there's no need to go for dramatic eye shadow if it doesn't suit your style. Here's how to give your eyes a natural look, yet pump it up a bit for the wedding pictures.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cosmetic brushes
  • Neutral eye shadow
  • Eye shadow pencil or liquid eye liner
  • Gold eye shadow
  • Pale, shimmery highlighter
  • Waterproof mascara
  1. Step 1

Cover your entire eyelid in a neutral cream or powder eye shadow. This will be the base for the rest of your eye makeup. For best results, use a cosmetic brush rather than your finger.

  2. Step 2

Draw a thin line of darker color from the inner corner of your eye all the way to the outside. You can either use a soft pencil or a liquid liner. Unless you have a really steady hand, a liquid liner can look artificial and harsh. It's best to smudge the line a little.

  3. Step 3

Apply the same dark color in the crease of your eye with a brush. Blend carefully so there is no obvious demarcation of color.

  4. Step 4

Give a little more definition to your eye by applying a touch of gold eye shadow along the lash line and up to the crease of your eye.

  5. Step 5

Add extra shimmer by brushing on a pale highlighter to the outside of your eye just below the brow bone. Don't go so heavy that the highlighter reflects the photographer's flash.

  6. Step 6

Brush on a coat of mascara. After a few moments of drying, add another coat. Be sure to use a waterproof one that will resist those tears of happiness.

Tips & Warnings
  • Practice applying your wedding day eye shadow days before the wedding. You don't want to experiment with makeup on the big day.
  • To get an idea of how your eye shadow will look in your wedding pictures, put on your makeup and take several digital photographs of yourself. Then make adjustments.
  • Hire a professional makeup artist if you don't feel comfortable doing your eye shadow or any of your makeup. A professional will help you achieve that glowing and happy wedding look.
