Things You'll Need:
- High tom
- Drum kit (including bass drum)
- Cymbal stand (optional)
-
Step 1
Check to see which kind of drum kit you own. Specifically, when it comes to the bass drum, see if you have a "virgin bass drum" or one with mounting components. The "virgin bass drum" means there are no mounting holes. In this case, simply mount your High Tom on an average cymbal stand.
-
Step 2
Insert the High Tom arm into the hole on the bass drum. This hole is located right on top, so it's easy to find. Insert the long end of the arm (the High Tom arm will be in an "l" shape.) Tighten the wing nut or manual screw until the arm is secure.
-
Step 3
Slide and fasten the High Tom onto the bar you've previously inserted. The arm will easily fit into the drum. Insert it until it cannot go any further, then fasten the wing nut or tightening device.
-
Step 4
Set the angle of your High Tom. After fastening, take a seat behind your drum set and make sure that the High Tom is at a comfortable angle in relation to the rest of your drum kit. Remember the head of the drum should be sloped down toward you. If it's flat, you'll end up hitting the edge of the drum when you try and play it.
