Step 1
Apply your makeup slightly differently for a special occasion. Contouring is one way to accentuate the features you want to emphasize.
-
Step 2
Brighten up areas like the corners of your eyes by adding a lighter foundation or highlighting powder. If you feel that your eyes are set too close together, you can apply the lighter foundation between your eyes and up onto your forehead, giving the impression of distance.
-
Step 3
Create the illusion of a slimmer face by using a slightly darker foundation, or powder, along the sides of your face. This technique will also work if you want to de-emphasize a broad nose; just use the darker foundation along the sides of the nose for a slimmer look.

Step 4
Emphasize your eyes by applying eyeliner and eye shadow to create the Hollywood "smoky eye." Apply a dark eyeliner right along the lash line, rubbing it into the roots of your eyelashes. Smudge the eyeliner to thicken the line, and then apply a dark shadow over it. The overall look is dramatic and glamorous.

Step 5
Finish off the look by applying a neutral color gloss or lipstick to your lips. You don't want to overdo it with your makeup, so emphasize either your eyes or your lips. If you'd rather play up your lips, choose a dramatic ruby shade of lipstick and tone down your eye makeup.

Step 6
Touch up your makeup throughout the evening to stay looking fresh and fabulous.
