Use a Gum Stimulator

In order to maintain good oral health, you must do more than simply to brush your teeth every day. Using a gum stimulator is a good way to remove unwanted plaque and keep your gums healthy. Gum stimulators are easy to use and should be used on a daily basis.

Instructions

    • 1

Buy a gum stimulator at any retail store that carrys dental products. Gum stimulators are long plastic or metal tools that have a soft rubber tip on the end. The rubber tip sticks out sideways, allowing you to clean and exercise your gums.

    • 2

Point the gum stimulator toward your gums at a 45-degree angle.

    • 3

Run the rubber tip of the gum stimulator in a circle for 10 seconds on each tooth. For plaque removal, start with your front-side of your back teeth and work forward along the gum line. Repeat this action in the same area, but on the back-side of the teeth.

    • 4

Stimulate the gums by working the rubber tip back and forth along the gum line. Besides removing plaque, it stimulates your gums and helps with blood circulation.

    • 5

Rinse your mouth periodically to remove dislocated dental plaque. Work the gum stimulator between teeth to remove food particles. For best results, use your gum stimulator at least once a day.

    • 6

Dip your gum stimulator in a solution of one part water to two parts hydrogen peroxide, if you notice bleeding gums. Use your gum stimulator as usual, but dip often into the solution.

    • 7

Replace your gum stimulator every few months when you replace your toothbrush.
