If someone says, "Go fly a kite," it can be an insult or actually something fun to do. Delta kite riggs are great entertainment, and once you purchase the initial kite, the wind is absolutely free. Find an open area and experience the exhilaration of flying a kite, but learn to assemble the kite out of the wind first.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Unroll the kite after you remove it from the bag. Lay the delta kite open so that the bridle line and attached spar face you. Most of the riggs are alike when it comes to basic parts.

  2. Step 2

Push the leading edge rods carefully into the nose piece. There's one on each side. If the leading edge spars aren't in the kite wing, insert them from the top to the bottom.

  3. Step 3

Check to see that you've inserted the Dacron loop onto the splitnoc, the end notch on the spar, to maintain the kite tension.

  4. Step 4

Find the leading edge connectors at the base of the kite and insert the spreader into each side. Cup your hand around the connector to avoid a miss that might put a hole in the kite.

  5. Step 5

Insert the stand offs at the bottom of the kite into the connectors. Make sure the bridle is even and not wrapped around a spar before you do that.

  6. Step 6

Put the upper spreader rod into the connectors that are on the leading edge of the kite.

  7. Step 7

Locate the point on the bridle connector to attach the flying line. Use a larkshead knot when you attach the line to delta kite riggs.
