When you're almost done with a haircut, it's essential to take a look at it to see if it needs any fine tuning. You may notice that some areas are too bulky or too weighed down. You may also notice that the layers aren't blended as well as you thought they were. Follow these steps to find tune a haircut.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Look over the haircut. It's easiest to do this once the hair is dry, because you'll get a true look at the cut. Hair looks very different when it's dry as opposed to wet.

  2. Step 2

Analyze the cut and see if there are areas that are more bulky than others. You may also want to create separation in certain spots.

  3. Step 3

Use texturizing shears to remove some of the bulk. This will add volume to the hair because it will no longer be weighed down.

  4. Step 4

Cut into the hair shaft with the texturizing shears. Thin out any parts of the haircut that seem to big and bulky.

  5. Step 5

Use a razor to fix any layers that aren't blended well. Hold the ends of the hair and trim off the excess with the razor. This texturizing will thin out areas that are too bulky.

  6. Step 6

Trim bangs by using a razor instead of scissors. Pull bangs tight. Slide your fingers to the ends of the hair. Use the razor to cut just above your fingers.
