Step 1
Wash hair using a moisturizing shampoo. In general, the more expensive brands produce better results.
-
Step 2
Use a moisturizing conditioner after shampooing.
-
Step 3
Towel dry your hair. Apply a leave-in conditioner to the ends of the hair. Avoid conditioner on the roots as this weighs down hair.
-
Step 4
Shape the curls using your fingers and scrunching the curl. Air dry the curls. Use a hair dryer with a diffuser when in a hurry. Curls lose their bounce and shape when overhandled.
-
Step 5
Deep condition the curly hair once a month with an olive oil treatment. Apply one tablespoon of olive oil and work this into the ends of the hair. Avoid the roots unless the scalp is dry. Cover with a plastic shower cap for an hour. Follow the normal shampoo and condition routine after this treatment.
-
Step 6
Add an anti-frizz product to the hair when curls become unruly or out of control. Anti-frizz products smooth the hair shaft and define the curls. Apply the anti-frizz product starting with the ends and working your way up.

on 3/6/2008 Shampoo contains SLS and other harmful products to your hair. Use a no0-poo or low-poo for your hair. Salon brands are NOT necessarily better. I use Suave coconut conditioner to condition-wash my hair and it looks terrific. There are all types of products that you can use that range from inexpensive (olive oil) to quite expensive, but you can decide what works best for your hair!
