Applying foundation is one of the most important steps in putting on your makeup. Cream foundation provides an especially flawless base for the rest of your make up. It is well suited for dry skin types, because it moisturizes while adding luster to dry skin. It also offers better coverage for lines and wrinkles. Read on to find out how to apply cream foundation.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Makeup or sea sponge
  • Cream foundation
  1. Step 1

Cleanse, tone and moisturize your face and neck.

  2. Step 2

Dampen a make up or sea sponge and apply a small amount of cream foundation to the edge of the sponge.

  3. Step 3

Apply a light layer of cream foundation, beginning by the ear and jaw line. Apply it in a downward motion. For a flawless finish, apply some to the ear as well.

  4. Step 4

Blend the foundation in especially well at the jaw line and hairline to avoid a demarcating line.

  5. Step 5

Use the pads of your fingertips to apply gentle pressure all over your face. The body heat from your fingertips helps you blend in your cream foundation even better.

  6. Step 6

Finish by loosely applying powder over your foundation for a matte finish.

Tips & Warnings
  • Apply less foundation than you believe you need. This is important because cream foundation is heavier and provides more coverage than a liquid foundation.
  • Applying foundation in downward motion ensures that the little hairs we all have on the face will lie flat, and avoid an "un-smooth" finish.
  • Using a damp sponge makes for a light, sheer application of your foundation.
