A color scheme is a set of colors that coordinate with one another when used in an area or room. Interior decorators use color schemes to create a consistent design. Creating a color scheme for multiple frames is one way to use your framed pictures without having to buy new frames.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Understand basic color schemes. A monochromatic color scheme is a range of different shades of the same color. Black and white are considered monochromatic. Complementary color schemes include colors opposite each other on the color wheel. A split-complementary color scheme includes one main color along with adjacent colors on each side on the color wheel. Analogous color schemes include colors beside one another the color wheel.

  2. Step 2

Choose a color scheme for your picture frames and the wall they belong on. Remember the wall is the background for the frames. The frames may be the same color. They may also be two or three different colors to create a design or pattern on the wall.

  3. Step 3

Purchase the spray paint at department stores, hardware stores or craft stores.

  4. Step 4

Remove the pictures and glass from the frames. Spread the newspaper out on a flat surface.

  5. Step 5

Lay the frames on the newspaper. Coat the frames with an even layer of paint that matches the color scheme. Spray in the grooves of the frame for consistent coverage. Allow the paint to dry.

  6. Step 6

Place the glass and photos into the frames.

  7. Step 7

Organize the frames on the wall in a pattern pleasing to your eye.
