Step 1
Start with the deck of cards on the table in front of you with your fingers framing the deck. This means your middle fingers hold the top side of the neck close to the corners and the thumb hold the bottom side of the deck. The forefingers can substitute for the middle fingers if it's more comfortable or you.
-
Step 2
Use your left hand fingers to split the top half of the deck from the bottom half. The move is similar to opening a mouth.
-
Step 3
Pull the two halves of the deck apart by turning out fingers to the sides, arching the cards along the table. Arch the cards in the two equal halves with two opposite inside corners facing each other like two sides of a bridge. The cards are facing down.
-
Step 4
Put the left forefinger in the center of the left half of the deck and mirror for the right side. The thumbs are laying along side the long bottom edge of the deck and the middle fingers are lying along the top long edge of the cards.
-
Step 5
Tilt the cards slightly upwards and apply pressure to the back of the cards using your middle fingers as you bring the two inner corners of the halves in to meet each other. The short edges of the cards are still touching the surface of the table.
-
Step 6
Lift up with the middle fingers and thumbs as you continue to apply pressure to back of the cards. The cards should begin to fall through your fingers as you push, falling on top of each other at the corner inside edges. Continue pushing until all the cards have gone through your fingers.
-
Step 7
Push the two long outer sides of the decks in towards each other until the cards are on top of each other in one neat pile.
