Magic and card tricks are always impressive to the naked eye. Though they usually just take a little practice to master, they can be the life of any party (not to mention a great icebreaker). Here's how to perform the special Peel Away Fan card trick.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Deck of cards
  1. Step 1

Hold the deck of cards in one hand. Make sure the bottoms of the cards are facing your audience. Also be sure that your thumb is behind the cards and that your index, middle, ring and pinky finger are on the front.

  2. Step 2

Fan the cards in one direction using your thumb. This will take a bit of practice, but once you have mastered this step, the rest of the trick will easily fall into place. Using the thumb on your free hand, fan the deck of cards by spreading them. Be sure to leave half of the deck still stacked. To your audience it will look as if you've created a fan (you won't really see numbers here).

  3. Step 3

Spread the remaining half-deck back in the other direction. Your grip on the cards is exactly the same and you will again use your thumb to fan them. At the end of this step, you will now have two fans, one in front and one in back.

  4. Step 4

Peel back the cards, which are facing your audience. This takes a bit of dexterity. Release your pinky and ring finger and continue to hold the cards with merely your thumb, index and middle finger. Curl your ring finger up. This will peel away the front layer of cards and reveal the fan behind it. When done correctly, you will have an impressive fan of stacked numbers and colors.

Tips & Warnings
  • The more decorative the deck of cards you are using, the more impressive the Special Peel Away Fan card trick. Look for card decks that have designs that are mesmerizing to the eye.
  • Don't overly bend these cards. It will only make the trick harder. Keep a pack of cards merely for fanning tricks.
