Impress card playing friends with a new card fanning trick. The one handed card fan is a similar action to that of the hand making a money sign gesture. The difference is that the one handed card fanning trick is done in a singular smooth motion instead of a repeated movement.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Hold the deck of cards on its side in one hand. Place the middle and ring fingers around the short end of the deck, the pinky underneath the bottom long end, the index finger over the top long end and the thumb on the back corner.

  2. Step 2

Pivot the index and pinky fingers away from the deck while holding on with the middle and ring fingers. Spread the cards upwards in one smooth motion with pressure from the thumb to form a fan.

  3. Step 3

Replace the index and pinky finger to the bottom of the fan once the thumb is up as high as it can go. Apply pressure with the index and pinky fingers to the bottom of the fan to get a wider spread. The fan should be spread wide enough so that all of the cards' face values are equally visible.

Tips & Warnings
  • Hand size and range of motion with the thumb determines how many cards can be used for fanning while still keeping all of the cards' face values equally visible.
