Step 1
Plan the layout of your work area before you begin bullet casting. Set up for casting bullets by finding an area where the casting pot or metal pot you melt the lead in can be off to itself. You don't want this around any powder or primers because of the heat and danger of explosion. You're working with molten lead.
-
Step 2
Create an efficient workflow for bullet casting by setting up the rest of your equipment in left to right order of your melting pot. This equipment includes a ladle and your molds. So, left to right order of equipment is: melting pot, ladle, molds and your lubricating station.
-
Step 3
Set up your press for efficient workflow when you do another type of making ammunition. When you re-load ammunition, position your press for the brass sizing and seating of the bullets directly in front of you on the table where you're working. Your sizer needs to be on one side and your powder drop needs to be on the opposite side.
-
Step 4
Arrange your brass for re-loading ammunition so that you can prime your brass, then powder-charge your brass and finally seat your bullet. Once these steps are completed, boxing and labeling must be done. Position each piece of equipment and supplies in left to right order.
