Breakdancing came into fashion in the 1960s in the African-American community. It started as a street routine and later evolved into a complicated dance that the individual dancer personalizes. Singer James Brown first referred to breakdancing as the good foot. Movements such as the swing freeze, crazy legs and Mr. Wiggles add excitement to breakdancing.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Step1
Plan to do the swing freeze in the middle of a fast breakdancing movement. You "freeze" your motion, which adds drama to your breakdancing.
Step2
Jump into a squatting position to start your swing freeze.
Step3
Place your right hand behind you flat on the floor and lean back on your right arm. Point your left arm toward the ceiling.
Step4
Kick out your left leg so that it is straight out.
Step5
Bring your right arm up in the air and over to your left side. At the same time, bring your left arm down so that your left hand is flat on the floor. Swing your body over to follow your right hand until you have made a complete flip.
Step6
Repeat the swing freeze motion until you complete a full circle.

Tips & Warnings

  • You need a good instructor to master the basic break dance movements. Then you can go on to moves such as the swing freeze.
  • Practicing in front of a full-length mirror will help perfect your breakdancing.
