Putting black hair in a wrap is a great way to style it without using chemicals or other harsh permanent methods. Brushing the hair around the head and securing it creates a nearly-straight hairstyle with a small flip at the ends.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Begin with clean hair. The hair can be dry or wet, whichever is easiest for you to work with.
Step2
Apply a leave-in conditioner that works for black hair. Choose the product that best serves your needs, such as extra-strength moisturizer or one formulated for oily hair if that is what you need.
Step3
Brush the hair using a wide, flat brush to remove all tangles and make the hair as smooth as possible. Brush the hair around the head multiple times. If there are any lumps or bumps of hair not smoothed out, it will show when you take the wrap off.
Step4
Use the brush to wrap the hair around the head. Brush in one direction and continue in that direction, being sure to keep the hair smooth.
Step5
Place the middle of a hair wrap at the nape of the neck and bring both ends to the front of the forehead. Tie or pin them into place. If needed, add an additional wrap to secure the hair. This is effective for shorter hair that may have ends that come loose.
Step6
Dry the hair under a dryer or allow it to air dry.
