Step 1
Start this tablature exercise by placing the index finger on the fifth fret. The middle finger should be placed on the sixth fret. Make sure they rest firmly but comfortably on the strings.

Step 2
Go up a string with the index finger on the E string and put the ring finger onto the seventh fret of the D string. Place your little finger on the eighth fret of the G.

Step 3
Move on to the next string up and do the same thing. Play the fifth fret of the E string and the sixth fret of the D string.

Step 4
Drop down a string to the A string and play the seventh fret and then the eighth fret.

Step 5
Play this combination of strings and finger positioning while moving up and down the bass. The spider walk is an exercise designed to give players the dexterity they need for good performance.
