Airbrushes uses compressed air to spray special paint onto practically any surface. The various air brush tips create different patterns for depositing the mist of paint. Airbrushes are not as easily manipulated as traditional paintbrushes, so a certain amount of finesse is involved.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Use a stencil to create the artwork. The stencil defines the working space for the airbrush artist. Stencils can be made from practically any material, includiong cardboard, plastic or metal.

  2. Step 2

Place the nozzle within 6 to 8 inches of the surface. Working in close gives you more control over the placement of the paint.

  3. Step 3

Airbrush with a darker color to fill the edges. Streak the paint across the design to add a three-dimensional quality and make the edges stand out.

  4. Step 4

Move in close to give some illumination to the design. The illumination creates highlights and gives the individual design elements more depth of detail. This effect gives the viewer the perspective of light casting shadows across the design.
