Once you create a mosaic tile design for your backsplash, you must transfer the design onto backing material to recreate it several times. You can create your own personal kitchen backsplash composed of mosaic tiles you make yourself.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tracing paper
  • Carbon paper
  • Backer board
  • Pencil
  • Mosaic tile design
  • Waterproof pen
  1. Step 1

Draw your design on tracing paper. This makes it easier for you to ensure that the design lines up with the backing material.

  2. Step 2

Place carbon paper on backer board. Make sure you cover the whole backing, including the edges.

  3. Step 3

Put the your mosaic tile design on top of the carbon paper, lining up the edges of the design lines with the edges of the backer board.

  4. Step 4

Trace around each tile of the mosaic design with your pencil, pressing firmly as you go. Follow the lines accurately so that you get the exact same design. Don't move the paper around while you trace.

  5. Step 5

Remove the carbon paper and the design to view your handiwork on the backer board. Since carbon paper easily wipes off, you can trace over the carbon design with a waterproof pen if you aren't going to use the design right away.

  6. Step 6

Repeat the process to create as many tiles as you need for your backsplash.
