Eyeliner is a favorite of women everywhere, and one of the most commonly used cosmetics. By using different liners and applicators, it is possible to achieve a variety of looks with eyeliner. Experiment and choose the type of applicator that brings out the beauty in your eyes.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Apply eyeliner with a brush. You'll have more control and a wider array of colors. This method works best when applying eyeliner to the lower lid.

  2. Step 2

Use a liquid eyeliner with a point liner brush for a dramatic look. Choose a black or gray eyeliner to make the look even more intense.

  3. Step 3

Line your eyes with an eyeliner pencil. Sharpen the pencil to remove any accumulated bacteria before each use.

  4. Step 4

Add water to a cake eyeliner if you need your makeup to last for a long time. Get a more intense look than with a dry powder or pencil liner.

  5. Step 5

Ask a doctor to apply permanent eyeliner. This method uses a needle to inject colored pigments into your skin.

  6. Step 6

Choose a felt-tip eyeliner pen for simple, quick liquid eyeliner. These can dry out quickly, but they produce a fluid, even look.

Tips & Warnings
  • If your eyeliner pencil isn't applying smoothly, hold it above a small flame for a minute or two. Let it cool before application.
  • Replace your eyeliner every six months to avoid bacterial growth and infection.
