Note the problem and match it with troubleshooting tips. Perhaps the sound is tinny or the systems shuts off and on abruptly. Visit the Car Audio Book website and look up the issue. You can also consult the troubleshooting guide in the back of you manual.

Check the ground points. Most problems with car audio systems come from a poorly installed ground point. The connections need to be secure and the grounds should connect to the chassis. The charging connection should be in good condition and the factory connections should be secure.

Examine the factory connections. Ensure that nothing is loose or damaged. You'll find the factory connections throughout the engine. Check the battery posts, the ground strap and the alternator connections. If the stereo is large, consider increasing the size of your factory grounds. Avoid using the negative ground of your battery post.
