As an alternative to sewing, you can attach a patch to a uniform with iron-on fusing tape. The process is quick and easy and does not require any special skills. If attached properly, the patch will stay in place on your uniform through multiple washings.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Preheat the iron to the temperature recommended on the fusing tape package.
Step2
Try on the uniform and position the patch. Use a safety or straight pin to hold the patch in place. Place the uniform on the ironing board with the outside facing up.
Step3
Cut a piece of fusing tape slightly smaller than the size of the patch so you don't melt the tape onto your iron.
Step4
Remove the pin from the patch and lift the patch off of the uniform. Place your finger on the uniform to mark the spot that the patch needs to be attached.
Step5
Put the iron-on fusing tape onto the uniform and place the patch on top of the fusing tape. Make sure to put the patch back in the same position.
Step6
Use a damp white cloth as a press cloth. Place the press cloth on top of the patch. Press and the hot iron onto the press cloth. Hold it in place for the length of time indicated on the fusing tape package. Typically it takes less than 30 seconds for the tape to adhere.
Step7
Allow the material to cool for a couple of minutes, then lift off the press cloth and check to see if the patch is firmly attached. If it is not, put the press cloth back on and press with the iron again.
