A band called The Meteors started the psychobilly movement. The three-man band includes a punk rocker, a rockabilly and a horror film fanatic. A combination of these three cultures defines a psychobilly. You can compare them to the "greasers" of the 1950s, and many people see them as tough kids. With a few lifestyle changes, you can join this hardcore, psychobilly group.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Wear punk rocker fashions. Dress in the style inspired by 1970s and 1980s punk rock bands and singers like David Bowie.

  2. Step 2

Style your hair like a psychobilly. You can wear the 1950s-style pompadour or shave your hair at the sides and back. You can also wear a style that looks like a horseshoe when you look down on the head from above.

  3. Step 3

Go wrecking at a concert that a psychobilly band plays. Dance violently, like slam dancing, and bounce into other people as they dance around you.

  4. Step 4

Listen to rockabilly music. Enjoy the type of music inspired by Elvis Presley in the 1950s.

  5. Step 5

Check out The Meteors' website for information on the history of psychobilly and how this band is responsible for the growth of the psychobilly audience. You can also get concert information to check out The Meteors live.

  6. Step 6

Develop a fascination with classic horror movies. Have an affinity for the dark side, with a focus on death and horror.

Tips & Warnings
  • The psychobilly genre includes a variety of people with several alternative lifestyles, from punk rockers to bikers.
  • Rockabilly music is a blend of punk rock and hillbilly rock music.
