How to Announce a Pregnancy

So you have just found out that you are pregnant. You're probably already compiling a list of people to call. Here are some ways you can announce your pregnancy to the rest of the world.

1. Send or give a card. You may want to either give a card in person to the soon-to-be grandparents, aunts and uncles. If you live far away, you can also mail them a card announcing your pregnancy. You also can send e-cards.
2. Buy baby items or baby themed items to give away to announce your pregnancy. You can get your spouse an "I Love Daddy" bib or a similar bib for the new grandparents. You could hand out baby onesies, pacifiers or booties to announce your pregnancy. Pink and blue balloons also can be a fun way to announce a pregnancy.
3. Go basic by calling or emailing friends and family. Pick up the phone and call your parents, siblings and friends. Have your spouse on the phone with you so you can make the call together. Send out an email that announces your pregnancy to your friends and more distant relatives.
4. Show people items related to your pregnancy. You may want to leave the positive pregnancy test out on the bathroom counter for your spouse to find. You may even wrap the positive pregnancy test up and give it to your spouse as a gift. You can also show people your first ultrasound picture to announce your pregnancy.
5. Let your older child announce your pregnancy. If you do have an older child, buy him a big brother or big sister shirt and have him wear it to announce your pregnancy. A great way to do this is to have your child wear their special shirt to a family gathering.
6. Announce your pregnancy when you feel comfortable doing so. If you are afraid about a miscarriage or nervous about people's reactions to your pregnancy, you may want to wait a bit.
