How to Become a "Doctor Who" Fan

Many science fiction fans treasure the quirky escapades of Doctor Who and his various companions. In the last few years, the latest incarnations of Doctor Who have been winning over more fans both in England and the Americas. Join the Doctor Who Fan Club by learning a few facts about The Doctor.

1. Learn the lore of The Doctor. The Doctor is a time lord who travels space and time fighting aliens and saving the Earth from destruction. The time lord does not die; his body regenerates. This concept allows for the introduction of new actors playing the same character. The current Doctor is the 10th incarnation.

2. Watch the episodes in order with the ninth and 10th doctors. The BBC has short seasons, generally around 13 episodes per year. The last two doctor's adventures stand alone from the previous episodes.

3. Recognize the TARDIS, which stands for Time and Relative Dimensions in Space. The TARDIS is the ship that The Doctor travels in through space and time. It looks like a small police box from the 1960s, but once inside it is expansive and full of futuristic equipment.

4. Identify the villains. The Daleks are The Doctors number one enemy. Supposedly, only one Dalek survived the war with the Time Lords, but that one Dalek proves to be quite an adversary for The Doctor.

5. Observe The Doctor's companions. The current Doctor travels with Rose, Martha and Captain Jack Harkness. There have also been some special appearances of Sarah Jane and K-9.

6. Suffer from Doctor Who fever. Once the new series has been completely viewed, watch the spin-off series "Torchwood," which follows the adventures of Captain Jack Harkness fighting aliens on Earth. If the Doctor Who addiction is still drawing your attention, start watching the old series with Doctors one through nine.
