Attend college and earn a Bachelor of Science degree in premed, biology or another medically related field.

    • 3

Gain admittance to an accredited medical school. Get experience in the medical field with internships or employment if your application is not accepted. Apply again to medical school and note your medical internship or experience. Students with low grades or MCAT scores may want to initially pursue this path to medical school.

    • 5

Earn a fellowship in neuropsychiatry or behavioral neurology following your residency in psychiatry or neurology. Qualify to specialize in neuropsychiatry. The fellowship will last at least one year.

    • 6

Receive designation as a specialist in neuropsychiatry after demonstrating extensive experience in the field.
