Instructions

    • 1

Write down the time management problem employees report they are facing. An example might be, "The reasons employees waste time on the job." Have employees state factors causing the problem.

    • 2

Ask employees to define and write down a goal for proper time management. They might write, "Consider daily activities in terms of time." Have employees describe factors producing the goal.

    • 3

Request each employee to brainstorm three solutions to the problem. Standard solutions include "Create Time," "Eliminate Distractions" and "Employ Time Saving Tools." Ask employees to draft at least four specific actions to generate each solution.

    • 4

Open a new document in a graphics presentation software. Insert a large text box in the middle of the document. Add the title, "Time Management." Embed a clip art picture of a clock.

    • 5

Insert five additional text boxes. Add one sentence in each text box that describes the problem, the goal and all three solutions to the problem. Place the box containing the problem in the top left of the page. Put the box describing the goal in the bottom left.

    • 6

Distribute the three text boxes containing the solutions on the right side of the page. Create a smaller text boxes around each solution box to hold the specific actions generating the solutions. Attach arrows extending from the specific actions to each solution.

    • 7

Complete the mind map by further defining the problem and goal. Add smaller text boxes attached to each. Put the factors generating the problem and goal in each of these text boxes. Extend arrows pointing from the factors to the problem and goal.
