Rock Band is a video game that allows players to pretend they're in a rock band. You can sing, play drums, play bass guitar or play guitar. While everyone has a favorite instrument in Rock Band, many people start the game with the guitar.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Put the guitar strap over your shoulder and adjust the strap so the instrument hangs comfortably. Your arms will be in the same place for a while, so make sure you're comfortable.

  2. Step 2

Take your left hand and notice the 5 colored buttons beneath your fingers. These are your "chords." With your right hand, press down on the strumming bar. This is how you'll strum or play the notes. If you're left-handed, switch hands and make sure you set the songs to lefty mode.

  3. Step 3

Start a song. You'll see what looks like the neck of the guitar on the screen. There'll be little colored bars on the neck of the guitar. Press the coordinating color beneath your left hand and strum with your right hand at the same time. This is how you play notes.

  4. Step 4

Continue to press the buttons and strum at the same time to get through the song. If you miss too many notes, you'll fail the song and have to try again later.

  5. Step 5

Watch for two of the same colors at the same point. This means you have to hold down both buttons and strum at the same time.

  6. Step 6

Listen carefully. If you're hitting the wrong notes, the song won't sound correct.
