How to Photograph Engaged Couples

If you're photographing an engaged couple, you want to capture the spark and affection between them. Locale will play a big part in this, and you should also learn something about the duo before snapping a single shot.

Instructions

1. Set up a consultation. Ask the couple to express their ideas about the session. Make them part of the creative process and be open to their suggestions.

2. Encourage the couple to wear complimentary outfits. It is best to have the couple wear solid, bright colors versus clothing with logos and designs.

3. Pick relevant locations. The spot where they first met, the park bench where he proposed, that theater where they saw there first film together will bring out emotions that your camera can capture.

4. Invite the engaged couple to have some fun during their photography portrait session. Candid photographs can often show the special bond between people. If they enjoy flying kites or playing catch, catch them during these activities.

5. Position the couple so that neither of them casts shadows on the other.
