Anytime you take an image from a piece of paper and copy it onto another surface, you transfer an image. To complete this process all you need to do is take a drawing, add some carbon paper, trace your image and transfer the image from your paper onto another surface, such as wood. Follow these steps and you'll have a perfectly transferred image.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wood
  • Image
  • Graphite paper
  • Tape
  • Pencil
  1. Step 1

Select the image you want to transfer. You might trace the image from a book onto tracing paper. You may draw the image without any reference, or you may print it out. No matter how you go about it, get that image onto a piece of paper.

  2. Step 2

Decide where on the wood you would like to transfer the image.

  3. Step 3

Place a piece of graphite paper onto the wood, where you would like to transfer your image. Make sure the graphite part of the paper is touching the wood. Usually the graphite side of the paper is darker than the other side. Tape down the graphite paper so it does not move.

  4. Step 4

Put the image on top of the graphite paper. Once the image is in place, use tape to secure the image so it does not move.

  5. Step 5

Trace the image with a pencil. Be sure to use gentle pressure, or else you might damage the wood. Make sure you trace each of the lines on your image. Any line you neglect to trace will not transfer.

  6. Step 6

Remove the image and the graphite paper from the wood and you should have a gently transferred image.
