Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Clean the outside and inside of the turkey. This may sound like an obvious step, but some folks have cooked Thanksgiving dinner without removing the giblets from inside the turkey's cavity. Make sure you remove the giblets and clean inside and out before you season the turkey.

  2. Step 2

Dry off the turkey. The sage butter will not adhere to a wet turkey.

  3. Step 3

Turn the turkey over. Lay the turkey breast side down and spread sage butter all over the bottom of the turkey.

  4. Step 4

Flip the bird right side up. Spread sage butter all over the top of the turkey. Don't forget the turkey's neck area.

  5. Step 5

Season the turkey wing tips with the sage butter. Be sure to include all of the turkey's extremities. Put aluminum foil over the end of the wing tips before cooking to prevent the tips of the wings from drying out.

  6. Step 6

Spread sage butter on the turkey's legs. As with the wings, cover the legs with aluminum foil before cooking to prevent drying.
