Doing combinations in tap dancing is fun, for you can start to put all the techniques you learned together into a cohesive dance. With these steps you can learn a fun and challenging shuffle toe combo. Grab your tap shoes!

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Start the shuffle toe combo in tap dance by shuffling with your right foot, then tap with your right toe. Make sure you tap with the tip of your tap shoe so it makes a sharp sound. When you tap your toe, you can bring it back so it's next to your left foot. You might find turning out the heel of your foot helps you as you do this.

  2. Step 2

Do another shuffle and then tap your right toe twice.

  3. Step 3

Dig with your right heel by tapping with the very back of your heel. Put some weight on your heel as you do so.

  4. Step 4

Brush back with your right foot and set your heel down so it makes a definite sound, then set your toe down in the same manner. A brush back is what it sounds like: brushing back with the toe of your tap shoe so that it makes a scuffing noise without letting your heel touch the ground.

  5. Step 5

    Stomp with your left foot.

  6. Step 6

Repeat the shuffle toe combo in tap dancing until you become more comfortable with it.

  7. Step 7

Add some speed to your shuffle toe combo in tap dancing. As you gradually speed it up, you'll hear the different sounds and their syncopations. The sharpness of the toes contrasts nicely with the digs, shuffles and brush backs. Don't be afraid to add some attitude.
