When you tap dance a single pullback, you brush back one foot and then step on that same foot. To tap dance a double pullback, you brush right, brush left, step right and then step left. You can guess it's a pretty quick motion, as both of your feet need to be off the ground at the same time. Try this variation to help you practice alternating double pullbacks.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tap shoes
  • Hard floor
  1. Step 1

    Stomp with your right foot.

  2. Step 2

Perform a right double pullback. Brush back with your right tap. As you do this, you will push off the ground with your right foot. Brush back with your left tap. Land on your right foot and then land on your left.

  3. Step 3

Make a stomp with your left foot and continue on to the left foot to perform a double pullback.

  4. Step 4

Brush back with your left tap and leave the ground. Brush back quickly with your right tap. Then land left and then land right.

  5. Step 5

Return to the beginning of the exercise by stomping with your right foot and repeating the pattern over and over until you have confidence in your double pullback combination.

Tips & Warnings
  • Steps 1 through 4 happen over four counts. Each stomp and each pullback only lasts one count. The counts for this combination are as follows: ONE, two-e-and-a, THREE, four-e-and-a. When you perform the combination twice, you complete one, eight-count exercise.
