Soccer is the most popular sport in the world. And while simple in concept, by getting the ball into the net more than the other team, it is complex to play. Here are some tips on how you can take tight angle shots on offense to help your team win the game.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Soccer ball
  • Goal or target
  1. Step 1

Get into position for a tight angle shot. These shots refer to when you are on the left or right side of the soccer goal, with the goalkeeper guarding the net at the front post. The angle you have to score reduces as you become parallel with the net. If you are not on the extreme left or right of the net, then you should use a different shooting technique.

  2. Step 2

Push the soccer ball past the defender. Even if the defender is right on you, one must create enough space so that you can kick the ball with a clear path. Push the ball out and get it into position for your stronger foot to kick. So if you are left-footed, push the ball to the left, if you are right-footed, push the ball to the right.

  3. Step 3

Plant your non-kicking foot beside the soccer ball. This planted foot will give you strength and balance as you move to kick the ball.

  4. Step 4

Rotate your hips so your body is square with the ball. To this point, you have been traveling forward toward the back out of bounds line. Now you must rotate your hips and your body so that you are better aligned with the goal. As your rotate your hips, your angle also improves, as now you are partially facing the net.

  5. Step 5

Kick the soccer ball and score a goal. Aim for the back post of the net. This is for a couple of reasons. First, the goalie is most likely at the front post to cut down your scoring angle. Second, this will give your ball a greater distance to correct in the air as it travels on the tight angle.

Tips & Warnings
  • Look for rebounds from tight angle shots in soccer. Many times the goalie can only deflect the ball as it comes in. If there are several strikers waiting in front of the net, then they can score off the rebound.
