Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Get a piece of white paper and a pencil. Draw the shape of your Christmas stocking on the paper. Make sure the piece of paper is the same size that you want your stocking to be.

  2. Step 2

Purchase several types of fabrics. Buy the fabrics in various colors and textures. Make sure that the colors that you choose match and are primarily Christmas colors such as red, green and white. Also, get some spray adhesive for the types of fabrics that you choose.

  3. Step 3

Buy needles of various sizes. You will need different sizes of needles to create different types of stitches. It is also good to have some extra needles on hand in case you lose or break one.

  4. Step 4

Look for threads that match the color of the different fabrics that you purchased. Do not use black thread unless you have dark colored fabrics. It is best to have a thread for each color of fabric that you purchased.

  5. Step 5

Set up the iron and ironing board. You will iron your stocking once you have completed it. While you are in the process of sewing your handmade Christmas stocking, you can lay it under a heavy book to keep the pieces from curling.
