A bowling glove can correct a problem or enhance your game. Just as choosing the right ball can make all the difference, the right bowling glove can have a terrific impact. A variety of gloves are available, depending on the needs of any bowler. Talk to your pro and choose the one that's right for you.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Visit the pro shop. Make an appointment with the pro to observe a few frames for possible problems with the throw and to determine what kind of glove is needed.

  2. Step 2

Minimize slippage from sweat with a non-supportive "tacky" glove. Pick a snug fitting glove to increase grip, much like a batting glove. Choose from a wide array of colors and styles suited for both men and women.

  3. Step 3

Strengthen a weak wrist and prevent it from "breaking," or bending back, with a support glove. Select a glove with a thin metal bar set in the back of the glove to restrict movement of the wrist.

  4. Step 4

Notice increased stability from a well fitted support glove. Discuss improvements associate with follow-through and carry with the new glove.

  5. Step 5

Visit with the pro from time to time and ask that he observe a few frames to make sure that the equipment is suited to the skill level. Update equipment as needed.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure that the bowling ball is appropriate. Select a weight that is about 10% of body weight. Choose a plastic ball for beginners and a reactive ball for the more accomplished bowler.
