Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Compose the model's bodylines within the frame. Think of her arms and legs as lines within a greater image. Try to use diagonal lines when posing her body with other elements in the photo to create interest and lead the viewer's eye.
Step2
Be aware of every element in the shot. Some photographers focus so intently on their model's body that they ignore the tree in the background that will appear as if it's growing out of her head when the photo is printed.
Step3
Analyze your model's best attributes before you begin shooting and pose her so that they are featured. Likewise, minimize her physical flaws by turning them away from the camera or blocking them from view by the use of props.
Step4
Pay attention to the model's arms and hands. As the feature that most often looks posed and awkward, hand placement is crucial. Study clothing catalogs for ideas. In addition, have your model do something with her hands. She can play with her hair, lean on her hands or place them on her hips.
Step5
Position your model's head last. After you've arranged her bodylines and arms in a flattering pose, adjust her head. Tipping the head slightly back makes a nose look smaller and reduces a double chin. Focus on the mouth when the head is tipped up and focus on the eyes for a sultry look when the head is tipped downward.
